RESIDENTS in Leith experienced a power cut this morning, with most of the area affected by outages.
Scottish Power have confirmed that a fault caused an outage in over 100 postcodes within EH11, EH6, and EH7.
Locals reported issues with lights, fridges, and alarms going off, as well as businesses forced to close.
The power was confirmed to have been restored to the area in the early hours of this morning.
The Scottish Power Energy Networks website stated “there was a fault in your area which has now been resolved” for over 100 postcodes within EH11, EH7, and mainly EH6.

Locals have taken to social media to share information about the shortage, with one user saying: “Tesco Duke street freezers and fridges out of action due to power cut.
“No milk, yoghurt etc.”
Another asked: “Anyone EH6 experiencing a blackout? Power has completely gone in house and stair, alarms blaring outside.”
Another stated: “Power cut bottom of Leith Walk/Junction Street. Victoria Pool closed.”
Someone confirmed: “It’s genuine, I had a power cut during the night.”
A spokesperson for SP Energy Networks today said: “We were made aware of a fault at 04:45, which affected some customers on Leith Walk/Easter Road.
“Our engineers were dispatched immediately and restored power within 90 minutes.
“We thank customers for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience.”
