LOCALS have shared their stories of mystery “take a smile” posters they have found plastered across Edinburgh.

The posters are seemingly created and distributed around Auld Reekie by an unknown individual with the presumed intention of brightening residents’ days.

With one of the small posters discovered yesterday and a picture of it shared to local social media groups, residents delighted in sharing their own tales of the positive posters.

The small strips of paper are separated into two parts with the top section boasting two love hearts and the words: “Take a smile.”

The bottom section is then separated into thin tabs of paper, easily removed, with unique smiley faces drawn on each.

Each poster holds about ten individual drawn smiley faces for residents to take and keep with them to brighten their day.

The posters have been spotted all across the Scottish capital from Morningside to Leith with locals delighting in their positive message.

With one discovered and shared to social media yesterday locals took great delight in sharing their stories of the “take a smile” posters.

The image shared showed a freshly posted positive poster with all ten smiles still available for the taking.

It was captioned: “Take a smile. Always makes me smile. I wonder who the mysterious person is that keeps these smiles topped up?”

The post received almost 100 likes and a slew of comments from locals who were also touched by the lovely posters.

One user wrote: “My daughter, my girlfriend and I took smiles from one posted at a bus stop at the Princess Street end of Lothian Road today.

“I’ve no idea who does this but I’m very glad they do.”

Another commented: “Love these. I always keep one or two in my phone case for good luck.”

A third replied: “Aw, these were appearing on bus stops in Leith during the pandemic and cheered me right up a few times. Nice to see them back.”

A fourth said: “It’s like constructive graffiti and I’m very here for it.”

A fifth added: “I’ve still got one in my wallet I found years ago.”
