A TRAVELLER has shared his remarkable random discovery of a British pub based in Kazakhstan – which even has London booze on draught.
The pub in Almaty, Kazakhstan’s largest city, is named the Pheasant Feather and is one of two bars in the country owned by Fullers.
Fullers is an English based pub, hotel and brewery company operating out of London, who brew a number of well-known English beers including London Pride which is itself served at the Pheasant Feather.
The bar is nearly 4,000 miles away from Fullers’ head office in London, sitting exactly 3,892.5 miles away from the UK.
The tourist discovered the bar whilst roaming the streets of the city, and shared images to back his story up, with the pub appearing legitimate.
However, even though the pub appears on Google searches, Fullers doesn’t acknowledge the boozer on its website or on the map of watering holes the company owns.
Despite this, the bar is hailed by Brits online as one of the only foreign boozers to properly recreate the classic British pub feel.
Sharing images of the bar to social media yesterday the Brit captioned his post: “Last year I discovered that there is a Fullers pub in Almaty, Kazakhstan that serves London Pride on tap.”
The social media post has received over 950 likes and more than 90 comments from social media users.
One user joked: “They’ve even exported Barry to sit out front, very authentic.”
Another replied: “Not just London Pride but basically the full Fullers range. Fair play to the English pub in Almaty.”
A third said: “Honestly, a better line-up of beers than 90% of pubs in the UK.”
Another commented: “2,299 Kazak Tenge = £3.55, but the average salary is about £550 per month so pretty expensive by local standards I’d expect.”
A fifth added: “When you say ‘on tap’ – you actually mean draught, really? London Pride doesn’t always travel well within the UK, never mind to the border of China.”
