A MAJOR incident on the A1 saw traffic slowed to a crawl after a car was left smashed to pieces in a collision.
The accident on Wednesday evening saw a car wrecked and a major response from emergency services.
It occurred just off a slip road leading onto Britain’s longest road near Wallyford, East Lothian.
Several cars were involved but one received the brunt of the destruction with the motor being left in pieces by the accident.
The accident happened at around 4:30pm and slowed traffic to a near standstill, with East Lothian motorists struggling to get into Edinburgh along the A road.
A blue car was left smashed to pieces with ambulance crews treating two individuals on the scene.
The conditions of the people involved in the collision is currently unknown with at least two requiring medical attention.
Traffic on the road was slowed for hours with it returning to normal after some time due to the efforts of emergency responders.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 4:20pm on Wednesday 15 January to attend a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A9, Wallyford Junction.
“We dispatched two ambulances to the scene. Two patients were treated and released at scene.”
