Hilarious sticker spotted on side of Polwarth bin, thoroughly reprimanding locals who dump rubbish in the area

A HILARIOUS sticker has been found on the side of a bin in Polwarth, thoroughly telling off locals for not disposing of their rubbish responsibly.

Complaints about litter and fly tipping have reached fever pitch in the last few months, with some areas swamped with abandoned items.

Just last week, Granton locals reported bin bags full of “clinical waste” left next to overflowing bins in their communal area.

Many are criticising locals for leaving Edinburgh’s streets in such disarray, with some calling for residents to “band together” in shifting the mess.

One social media user posted online yesterday, sharing a picture of a warning sticker stuck to the side of a bin, apparently placed there by someone on their last nerve.

The caption states: “Seen on a bin in Polwarth”.

The sticker itself reads: “Attention, why are you dumping rubbish?”.

This is followed by a tickbox listing the following: “I’m an idiot.

“I don’t care about this community.

“I think other people should clean up after me.

“I’m lazy and selfish”

And ends with the statement: “Don’t be a ‘tosser’.

“Dispose of your rubbish responsibly.”

Many community groups and individuals are taking matters into their own hands, with the Water of Leith Conservation Trust picking up eight bags of rubbish from the Colinton area yesterday, including a bike that had fallen into the river.

The Edinburgh Evening News reported last weekend that the City of Edinburgh council has received 359,000 complaints over “flytipping, overflowing bins, graffiti, litter and dog fouling” in the past five years.

One local told The Daily Record: “Sometimes when we complain we get the ‘budget is low’ response and on one occasion I was told they cannot keep coming out here because it is the residents who are causing the problem.

“I’ve suggested we could put up CCTV which homeowners could contribute to, but the idea was not picked up.”

The council is obliged to dispose of fly tipping on public land, for which they issue fines of £200.
