A BODY has been found in a river following a three-week search for a missing Edinburgh woman.
Santra Saju was initially reported missing from Edinburgh and has not been seen since 6 December, when she was last spotted in Livingston.
The hunt for the 22-year-old student was called off on 27 December after a body was found in the Almondvale River.
Police have yet to officially identify the body but have informed Santra’s family of the discovery.
Police Scotland issued three appeals for help in locating Santra in the last few weeks, releasing photographs of the missing student.
Santra was reported missing from the South Gyle area of Edinburgh before being spotted in an Asda in Almondvale, Livingston.
Her family issued an appeal for information last week which read: “It has been more than two weeks since Santra was last seen and we are worried sick, this is very out of character.
“We are desperate to know where she is and that she is safe.
“Santra, if you see this, please call us or reach out to someone to let them know that you are safe.
“We urge anyone who may have seen Santra, or who has any information at all that might help trace her to contact police as soon as possible.”
Police Scotland called off the search for Santra on 27 December after a body was discovered in the Almondvale River.
They issued a statement reading: “Around 11:55am on Friday, 27 December, 2024, police were made aware of a body found in the water near to Newbridge.
“Formal identification has still to take place however the family of Santra Saju, 22, has been informed.
