A POPULAR Edinburgh chippy has had a bin full of batter emptied across the pavement outside its shop.
A local passing the Fountain Park Fry in Dundee Street yesterday spotted one of the two yellow bins outside the takeaway tipped on its side.
The large yellow bin lay leaking its contents out onto the pavement, leaving the walkway covered in a thick puddle of batter.
Whilst the reason for the knocked-over bin is unclear, the takeaway appeared closed at the time, suggesting an unknown culprit could be to blame.
Two bins are seen in the image, both bright yellow with red lids to signify that they contain hazardous waste materials.
The yellow bin with a red lid is typically issued to restaurants and food prep businesses to dispose of large amounts of food waste, oil or other grease.
It’s unclear what caused the bin to fall over resulting in the batter being strewn across the pavement, but some locals theorised that residents of the nearby student accommodation could be to blame.
One Scot shared the image of the mess to social media yesterday with the caption: “Photo says it all.”
It has received over 145 likes and more than 50 comments from locals who were quick to crack jokes about the mess made.
One user joked: “Someone’s going to get battered for this.”
Another replied: “I’ve bought from that place before, the people are actually nice and the food isn’t bad.”
A third said: “Can’t see the blame for the chippy here, obvious that some knuckle dragger has tipped over the bin.
“Proximity of the chippy to student halls is revealing as to who culprits likely to be.”
Another quipped: “Go home bin, you’re drunk.”
A fifth added: “One bin has puked up on the other one. So Old Town.”
