City centre bus stop shattered to pieces leaving glass powder strewn across street

A CITY centre bus stop has been left shattered with piles of broken glass strewn across a busy street.

The bus stop outside Waverley station on Princes Street in Edinburgh was left severely damaged on Wednesday following an unknown incident.

Mostly constructed of large panes of glass, the bus stop was left completely destroyed with the walls of the shelter being shattered.

Large piles of broken and shattered glass were left covering the road and pavement on the busy city centre street, although it’s unclear whether the destruction was deliberate vandalism or something else entirely.

Commuters snapped photos of the extensive damage warning others to be careful of the hazards left in the wake of the destruction.

Buses were forced to avoid the piles of glass to prevent damage to their vehicles, with some opting not to use the bus stop entirely.

The dangerous piles of glass were reported to the City of Edinburgh Council with images of the mess shared on social media on Wednesday, captured by a commuter on a passing bus.

Locals were warned to take care in the area and avoid the large piles of glass strewn all across the road.

The City of Edinburgh Council has been contacted for comment.
