Lothian Buses looking to set public transport superfans up for Christmas with hilarious stocking fillers

IN the run up to Christmas, Lothian Buses have recommended their line of merchandise for any public transport superfans looking for stocking fillers.

Posted on social media, the line includes a branded thermal bottle in their signature maroon colour.

Fans of the service can also show their appreciation with an ‘I heart Lothian’ t-shirt, available in both children’s and adult’s sizes, or a mug that reads ‘Not in Service, on a break’ on a Lothian bus.

The bus service provides public transport links through the City of Edinburgh, East Lothian, Mid Lothian and West Lothian, with over 700 buses running day and night.

The social media account for Lothian Buses posted images of their merchandise with the caption: “Pick up a stocking filler from our online shop!

“We’ve got mugs, hats, t-shirts and more… We’ve got something for everyone this Christmas”.

As part of their online shop, the company also sells cuddly toy versions of Cobbles, the mascot of Edinburgh Bus Tours.

The Scottie dog is named after Edinburgh’s distinctive cobbled streets and is the company’s official ambassador.

The bus service has an unusual fan base, having attracted thousands of views through a social media account titled ‘busspotteredinburghlothian’.

The account has almost 14,000 followers, who avidly respond to their edits of various bus routes in Edinburgh, set to music.

In a viral video earlier this year, one user said: “Absolute classic. Can we get some Princes Street bus traffic?”

Another said: “We got bus edits before GTA 6”

A third added: “Jesus Christ. I dropped my Tennents.”

Despite preparing customers for Christmas, all Lothian buses were recently cancelled due to Storm Bert, which caused widespread disruption across the country.

A yellow weather warning was put in place with drivers warned to only travel if it was essential.

Many are still recovering from the storm which caused flooding in parts of the country and has left at least four dead.
