EDINBURGH Gin is set to open a brand-new state-of-the-art distillery in the heart of the capital.
The Edinburgh Gin Distillery will open at The Arches on East Market Street next Friday and will offer unique tours and experiences to gin-loving visitors.
The company, founded in 2010, is inspired by the contrast between Edinburgh’s historical, natural beauty, and its contemporary creative culture.
Having already supplied over 50 bars in Edinburgh with their botanical flavours, Edinburgh Gin will now find a home in the heart of the city.
The company is committed to sustainable practices, and the distillery will run on 100% renewable electricity, meaning it will be entirely carbon neutral.
In addition to a bar and airy floor-to-ceiling windows, the building will include a rooftop bar so that visitors can enjoy a view of Edinburgh’s skyline whilst sipping on artisanal cocktails.
The building is built around four of the historic East Market Street Arches, which date back to 1825, and combines modern architecture with the natural features and brickwork of the Old Town.
Edinburgh has been known for its gin distilleries since the 18th century, spurred on today by the wealth of indigenous ingredients found in the Scottish landscape.
Varieties offered by the company include elderflower, plum and vanilla, and marmalade sandwich, to name a few.
A range of flavours and merchandise will be available exclusively at The Arches, allowing visitors to take home a unique souvenir from their trip.
Aside from a classic tasting tour, customers will be able to explore chocolate pairings with Edinburgh-based chocolatier, Coco, and can even craft their own bespoke gin in The Arches Gin Lab.
The brand has previously hit the headlines following collaborations with comedian Eddie Izzard and Fleabag star Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
For those less inclined to take a tour, the bar is open to the public from Monday to Sunday, from midday until 7:30pm.
