POLICE were called to the premises of one of Edinburgh’s most luxury gyms following reports of a man displaying threatening behaviour.
A 23-year-old was arrested and issued an official police warning on November 11 at David Lloyd Shawfair in Danderhall, Midlothian.
No injuries were reported after the man was allegedly seen “harassing” a young woman to the point that she “looked petrified”.
After “screaming and shouting at him to leave her”, eyewitnesses reported that management at the gym stepped in to assist.
This wasn’t before an older gentleman was also reportedly left on the receiving end of the man’s confrontational behaviour though, after he intervened out of concern for the young woman.
Police arrived on scene at around 6pm and arrested the individual concerned, issuing him with an official police warning.
The swanky gym opened its Shawfair branch in Edinburgh in 2023 with two other David Lloyd branches already present in the city.
Membership for the luxury gym runs punters anywhere between approximately £100 and £150 a month depending on packages.
Discussing the situation online, one local claimed: “He was harassing a young lass (think they were together) and she was screaming and shouting at him to leave her.
“Poor lass looked really stressed out. Thankfully a group of lads stepped in and club management. Glad to hear he got lifted.
“He also tried squaring up to an older gentleman right in front of my car who was clearly concerned for the girl’s safety.”
Another concerned gymgoer said: “The woman looked petrified. I hope she is okay now.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “”Around 5:55pm on Monday, 11 November, 2024 we were called to a report of disturbance within business premises in Old Dalkeith Road, Danderhall.
“Officers attended and there were no injuries reported.
“A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with the disturbance and given a recorded police warning.”
