EDINBURGH locals have been left baffled by mysterious invitations to a random flat being handed out across the city.
A series of residents in the capital received ominous invitations over the weekend via slips of paper handed out at premises across Auld Reekie.
Delivered by strangers, the invites include an address in the Bruntsfield area, with instructions to show up on Monday 25 November at 6pm.
With little to no information available on the invitations, residents have gone wild with bizarre theories about what could be lying in wait at the address, from a swinger’s club to a recruitment even for cults and fringe religions.
The invites read, “Monday November 25th 2024”, followed by the address and postcode for the property.
A small footnote adds to the intrigue, as it reads: “All staff + family members.”
The image of the note was shared to social media by one local, who claims it was handed to a pal of theirs who works in a cafe in Leith.
However, other Edinburgh residents have explained that the same notes have handed in to their places of work too, including a bar and a Tesco store, both also in Leith.
Sharing the snap online yesterday, the person wrote: “A friend who works in a cafe in Leith got handed this paper today by a stranger with no context.
“He placed the paper on the counter, said ‘There you go’ and walked away.
“Does anyone know what this is about? Tried looking up the address and it just seems to be a random building.”
Social media users were left baffled by the mysterious invitation and flocked to the post leaving over 200 likes and more than 140 speculative comments.
One user wrote: “I’ll take Jehovah’s Witnesses for 10 please.”
Another replied: “Serial killer and/or swingers party.”
A third said: “Welcome friend. You have been invited to meet the aliens from the mothership. All shall hail their intelligence and glory.”
Another added: “It’d be funny if hundreds ended up going after this post.”
A fifth commented: “Something religious – Mormon’s or Jehovah’s Witnesses.”
