APPLE’S AI system has left Brits in stitches with a hilarious gaffe in its summarisation of the latest news, suggesting Gary Lineker has had a sex tape leaked.
News broke last week of a leak of sex tapes showing a senior civil servant – and nephew of the current president – in Equatorial Guinea having sex in his office and elsewhere with different women.
As well as this, it was revealed yesterday that Gary Lineker would be stepping down from his role as presenter on the long-running footy show Match of the Day.
However, in trying to present these two stories in an easier-to-read fashion for mobile users, Apple Intelligence made a blunder as it pinged through a summary of Apple News’ headline, suggesting Lineker’s departure was thanks to his sex tape being exposed.
A screenshot of the notification pinging through on one user’s phone sees it read: “Massive leak of sex tapes shocks a nation; Gary Lineker to step down from Match of the Day.”
The unfortunate usage of the semicolon results in hilariously creating the impression that the former Barcelona and England striker has stepped down from his duties in shame as a result of the nation-shocking sex tapes.
Brits found the blunder hilarious and quickly fell to joking about it after the screenshot was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “Apple Intelligence providing an unintentionally great summary of the news.
“Please note: Gary Lineker has not released a sex tape, that we know of.”
The post has received over 960 likes and more than 50 comments from social media users left in stitches by the daft gaffe.
One user wrote: “He’s going to review sex tapes every week with Shearer and Wrighty.”
Another replied: “And they took so long to roll Apple Intelligence out as well, you’d think they’d do a better job of things.”
A third said: “I bet his bed sounds like ruffling crisp packets.”
Another added: “He pressed the wrong buttons and released the sex tapes instead of a goal montage.”
A fifth commented: “Semi-colons. Not even AI knows how to use them.”
