A DAD was left disgusted at the lack of hygiene standards in a food outlet at a theme park after filming unclean surfaces, uncovered food and dirty floors.
The bloke, known only as Glen, was visiting Gulliver’s World in Warrington, Cheshire with his family on Sunday, when they stopped by the park’s Lost World Feeding Bay in search of a drink and some food.
However, he was taken aback by the state of the facilities inside, capturing it all on camera and warning future visitors to stay away, claiming they “would get food poisoning”.
The video shows staff working away preparing food as Glen films over the counter.
Hot dogs sit cooking on hot rollers right in front of him, completely exposed with no cover to protect them from germs or insects.
He says in a voiceover: “Imagine coming to Gulliver’s World in Warrington, coming to the Lost World Feeding Bay and discovering how dirty and unhygienic it is when you’re looking at ordering food.”
He zooms in on a floor covered in crumbs and a discarded pen as he explains they decided to play it safe and only order tea and hot chocolate.
In a dig at the service, he adds: “That took like five to 10 minutes for him to work out how to put a tea bag in a cup.”
He shows a shot of a freezer holding ice cream – the rubber seal of which is covered in black specks – before returning his attention to the hot dogs.
He says: “Now look at the state of these hot dogs. They’re not even covered over. People just cough on them, the sides are disgusting.
“As you can see the sides are filthy under the slush machine. It’s not a nice place.
Zooming in on a staff member serving chips, he says: “She’s currently getting all the dirty bits out the chip pan fryer.
“On the floor there’s some gloves, there’s cloths on the floor, the sides haven’t been wiped down.
“Cheese on the floor, the sides are dirty. And it’s not exactly busy, it’s not like they were rushed off their feet. There’s a dirty glove on the floor.”
Outside the cafe, he adds: “It is absolutely disgusting. If you are going to Gulliver’s Warrington, do not eat in this place. You will end up with food poisoning.”
Glen posted the footage to social media on Sunday, where it has since received over 15,000 likes and more than 770 comments from Brits sharing their own views and experiences.
One claimed: “I once went to Gulliver’s in Rother Valley, I was poorly with food poisoning. I nearly ended up in hospital, three days, terrible.”
A second said: “We got some food in there once in the family food area and we all had upset stomachs, never again.”
A third commented: “That’s what all kitchens look like, even in ‘posh’ restaurants. That just happens to be an open kitchen so you can see everything.”
Another joked: “I often frequent theme parks and I’m ever so shocked to see this. The lobster risotto was to die for at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.”
A fifth added: “If I’m getting a hot dog I’ve already abandoned all expectations when it comes to quality and hygiene.”
Gulliver’s Theme Parks declined to provide a comment.
