Man’s prank on Google Street View camera pays off after he spots himself in hilarious staged “murder” pics on Scots island

A MAN’S prank on the Google Street View camera has paid off after he spotted himself in snaps partaking in a hilarious staged “murder”.

Gideon Futerman was on a geology field trip with a close pal to the Isle of Lewis over the summer when the pair spotted the Google Street View car mapping the nearby township of Habost.

Deciding to have some fun with it, the duo waited for the car to pass before pulling their prank, with Gideon’s pal pretending to bludgeon him with a hammer by the roadside.

Unsure if Google would scrap the image and opt for one without the pair in it, the pals were pleasantly proven wrong on Tuesday when Gideon checked Google Maps to find their “masterpiece” had made the cut.

Commenting on his post, Gideon said the snap was “too funny to not share”. (C) Google Maps

The screenshot from Google Maps shows the pair on a single-track road heading towards the sea, surrounded by fields.

Gideon’s mate, wearing a black anorak and trousers with a grey hat, can be seen wielding a small hammer, poised as if about to swing it at him

Gideon, wearing a blue anorak and black trousers with an orange bag, leans backwards with his arm up as if trying to protect himself.

Gideon shared the image to social media on Tuesday with the caption: “Over the summer, I went to the very north of the Isle of Lewis on a field trip to map the geology there with a close friend of mine.

“The Google Street View car went past. We had a geological hammer. The following masterpiece, now on Google Street View, was the result.”

It has since received over 18,000 likes and more than 230 comments from tickled social media users sharing their reactions.

One said: “Sure. Can anyone confirm that the poor chap getting bludgeoned here isn’t, in fact, missing?”

A second quipped: “Someone in two years will find this and make a murder mystery essay out of it.”

Another wrote: “This will now be round the whole island, but with some details slightly embellished, such as the murder did actually happen.”

A fourth commented: “I tried to rush two random lads into acting out a similar scene. It was all a bit rushed and confused and we just look like we are all drunk or on drugs.”

Another joked: “Let us know when it comes out on a postcard.”

Another clocked the pair in other shots nearby, commenting: “Ha. Found you reprobates.

“Love how it goes past you first time, giving you time to think of your plot, then when it returns… genius.”
