Young Spirits appoints new managing director to spearhead growth plans

AN Edinburgh spirits bottling and branding compmany has announced the appointment of Barbara Russell Scott as its new managing director.

Young Spirits have announced the appointment with the hopes of having Barbara, who was previously director of operations, spearhead the business’s ambitious growth plans.

With over 30 years of experience in the global drinks industry, Barbara brings a wealth of knowledge to her new role.

She joined Young Spirits in 2023 and has since led strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring sustained growth.

Barbara will now focus on expanding the Young Spirits service, enhancing the skills of the team, and ensuring sustainability and innovation remain core to the company’s mission.

Speaking on the appointment, co-founder Alex Harrison said: “Barbara has been a huge asset to our team in the last couple of years, and we are thrilled that she will be taking on this new role at such an exciting stage in Young Spirits’ development.

“We are confident that her strong leadership skillset and strategic vision will help us to take our fast-evolving business to the next level.”

Young Spirits, founded in 2019 by John Ferguson and Alex Harrison, specialises in product development and branding for clients, ranging from exclusive private bottlings to large-scale projects for global brands.

The company is also building its own spirits portfolio, including brands like Ferg & Harris and Uhuru, with a focus on sustainability and charitable partnerships.
