MUSSELBURGH Racecourse has confirmed the return of Virgin Bet as the title sponsor for two of its flagship events in 2025: New Year’s Day and Easter Saturday Racedays.
These prestigious events are part of Musselburgh’s “Sensational 6” – the racecourse’s premier racedays.
The 1 January New Year’s Raceday is a much-anticipated annual sell-out, attracting over 6,000 racing enthusiasts.
The day will showcase jump racing, headlined by the £40,000 Auld Reekie Handicap Chase and the £30,000 Hogmaneigh Hurdle, contributing to a total prize fund of over £100,000.
Virgin Bet will also sponsor the Easter Saturday Raceday, scheduled for 19 April. This event will feature the prestigious £100,000 Queen’s Cup and the Scottish Sprint Cup, the fastest race in Scotland, drawing top-tier competitors from across the UK.
As part of the partnership, Virgin Bet’s Personal Safety Partner, WalkSafe, will be integrated into both racedays.
WalkSafe+, an app designed to help users plan the safest routes home, will be introduced to racegoers, enhancing safety measures at Musselburgh.
Dominic Vye, marketing director at Virgin Bet, commented: “We are thrilled to continue our longstanding partnership with Musselburgh Racecourse as the headline sponsor for these key events in the Scottish racing calendar.
“Our partnership with WalkSafe, part of our ‘Good Bet’ initiative, will also provide racegoers with important tools to ensure they can travel home safely.”
Sarah Montgomery, commercial and operations director at Musselburgh Racecourse, added: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Virgin Bet.
“These events are highlights of our ‘Sensational 6’ and we’re thrilled to see safety initiatives like WalkSafe becoming part of the experience.”
Tickets for the New Year’s Day Raceday are available for purchase, with a special £10 discount if booked before 31 October.
