EDINBURGH locals have been left divided as the Christmas lights at The Dome bar and restaurant have appeared – despite Halloween still being around the corner.
The famous lights appeared wrapped around the columns of the swanky establishment on George Street in the city centre.
Snapped by one resident yesterday who shared the photo online, the presence of the lights has sparked up debate over ‘how early is too early’.
With the likes of Halloween and Bonfire Night still yet to pass, the unveiling of the lights felt a little too premature for some Scots.
The image of the lights shows the iconic columns of the dome wrapped in spiralling lights from top to bottom.
Also prevalent are the classic dome decorations of nutcrackers in the front windows of the building.
Tinsel and bows decorate the front of the large building with a wreath placed above the front door.
The iconic building often puts up Christmas decorations some time before the holiday actually takes place, but some believe this year feels earlier than ever.
Others argued however, that decorations could go up as much as three months before the Christmas holiday.
The image was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “The Dome Christmas decorations are up already! Too early?”
The post has since received over 150 likes and more than 50 comments from Edinburgh locals divided in their opinions.
One user commented: “I don’t really care if they’re ‘Christmas’ lights, it gets dark at 6pm and it looks prettier with them up.”
Another added: “Way too early.”
A third wrote: “Always surprises me that they don’t get some orange/purple lights woven in there that they could turn on till Halloween.”
Another added: “Still October, get some cobwebs and skeletons up there instead.”
A fifth said: “They’re not the earliest. The new restaurant down at Newhaven harbour had a Christmas tree up on October 3rd.”
