Housing development switches management for tailored support

New partnership enhances local services for residents

ONE of Scotland’s top housing providers has completed the transfer of management of five of its properties to Barrhead Housing Association.

This transfer, conducted by Hanover Scotland, will enable the tenants of these properties to benefit from more localised services and support.

The review highlighted the potential for improving services through a partnership with a trusted, local housing provider; this aligns with Hanover’s mission to improve the lives of our tenants whilst maintaining its core values of respect, accountability, collaboration, and inclusion.

Janice McDonald, Head of Housing at Hanover Scotland, said: “This transfer will allow tenants to benefit from Barrhead Housing’s highly regarded, locally focused services”.

“We are confident that their close community ties and excellent customer service will enhance the experience for all tenants.”

Barrhead Housing Association, a registered social landlord in East Renfrewshire, brings nearly 40 years of experience in delivering affordable housing and community support.

With over 1,000 homes under its management, Barrhead Housing is well-positioned to provide the personal and attentive service that tenants can expect.

Lorna Wilson, Chief Executive of Barrhead Housing Association, said: “We are delighted to welcome our new tenants into the Barrhead Housing family. We deliver excellent services and put the tenant voice at the heart of everything we do.

“Barrhead’s tenants will also benefit from a dedicated customer service officer, a local office for face-to-face support, and a range of improvements to their homes. We are really looking forward to building strong relationships with our new tenants and ensuring they feel at home in our community.”

The transfer also guarantees that there will be no changes to existing tenancy agreements, rights, or responsibilities. Additionally, tenants will continue to enjoy affordable rents, with no increases until 2026, and a series of home improvements planned for the coming years.

The completed transfer ensures a seamless transition for tenants, with Barrhead Housing now fully responsible for the management of the properties, delivering on its promises of affordable housing, home improvements, and enhanced community services.
