THIS is the horrifying moment a young lad is filmed speeding down a busy residential road on an e-scooter before smashing headfirst into a BMW.
Harrowing footage of the collision at the junction of Tynemouth Road and North King Street in North Shields, Tyne and Wear was shared online yesterday.
The reckless youth sped down the road without any protective gear on before realising his error too late and ploughing into the car, sending him flying down the tarmac.
The footage shows the young lad coming into view, travelling at speeds well exceeding the limit on the road as a car passes him by in the other lane.
He then appears to realise that the driver pulling out of the junction he is approaching hasn’t seen him and sticks his foot out in a vain attempt to try and slow down.
Too late to prevent the inevitable though, the scooter wobbles and the rider slams into the BMW at high speed.
The lad is flung from his scooter and flies through the air, crashing to the ground further down the road in a heap.
The BMW is left with severe damage with panels above the front wheel arch left dented and in pieces.
It’s unclear whether the boy was left with any major injuries following the horrific high-speed collision.
The video footage of the crash was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “Does anyone have any stories about donuts on scooters/e-bikes?”
It has since received over 3,000 likes and more than 950 comments from social media users left in disbelief.
One wrote: “I just don’t understand how people can’t equate having tiny wheels with rudimentary brakes and going at high speeds as a recipe for disaster.”
Another added: “Inexperience and convenience. Also, excellent bed fellows for disasters. I personally don’t understand how these devices are legal or do not require a licence or insurance.”
A third replied: “I use this exact road nearly every day. It’s a 30mph limit but very dangerous due to the blind junctions caused by cars parked on the side.
“As for the charva (sic) in the post, that’s just natural selection.”
Another said: “Ah I feel bad for the guy. Quite the dent above the wheel arch, hope it’s not too costly to repair.”
A fifth commented: “This makes me happy. Those things are a damn nuisance. 90% of the people riding these are absolute bellends.”
