Woman shares anger after rubbish being dumped in neighbour’s garden reached over 5ft high – with the council allegedly only responding after she took to social media

A WOMAN has shared her anger after rubbish dumped in her neighbour’s garden reached dangerous levels – with the council allegedly only responding after she took to social media.

The resident of Everton, Liverpool, known only as Dominique, shared appalling images on Tuesday of the sea of waste and random items next door.

Separated only by a fence, the ever-growing pile has been choking up the garden for four years and has since extended into the street.

It has reportedly reached over 5ft high and is causing infestations of rats and flies, not helped by people turning up and dumping their own rubbish.

Dominique made repeated attempts to contact Liverpool City Council due to the health and safety and environmental health issues, and the mess blocking her parking space.

Despite allegedly being one of five neighbours to complain, she received no response until her post gained attention, despite fearing for her safety.

Dominique believes the bloke is running a business, after spotting people turning up to buy from him and dumping their own items, which she says she has attempted to stop them from doing.

She now fears it may cause a fire and claims he has started threatening her after she asked him to clear a space for her to park her car.

Dominique’s pictures show the horrifying view from her house, which shows the street in front almost completely blocked by piles of junk, mostly random household items.

A narrow slither of space to squeeze through is just about visible in the midst of it all.

A small lorry can be seen parked further up the street, which is full of surprisingly pristine-looking items, including bikes, a lawnmower and a plastic baby bath.

A shot of the front of the house shows another pile crammed behind gates at the end of the driveway, which bear an incredibly ironic sign reading: “Please keep clear of the gates.”

Dominique posted to social media on Tuesday with the caption: “I have been contacting Liverpool City Council since June over my neighbour’s garden, over 5ft high, now in the street & there are people turning up fly tipping in his garden.

“The rats are feral. Can anyone help me? Surely this is an environmental health issue?

It has since received over 5,000 likes and more than 420 comments from Brits left disgusted by the scene.

One wrote: “That’s appalling – worse is you having to come on Twitter to beg the council for help. Disgraceful.”

Another said: “The cheek of that sign, ‘please keep clear of the gates’.”

Dominique replied: “Keep clear as the rats are like bouncers on the gates.”

A third commented: “What the f**k. Why do people not take pride in their own little space. I don’t know how you or the rest of the street copes with that.

“Is your local MP as useless as the council?”

A fourth added: “Start a petition and share the link on here.

“I’ve followed because the fact that your neighbour is a disgusting animal and has been torturing you for years is absolutely barbaric.”

Another wrote: “Um what? Why are people fly tipping… is he dead? This is insane.”

Dominique posted an update yesterday thanking people for their support and informing them that the council had finally been in touch.

Speaking today, a spokesperson for Liverpool City Council said: “This issue is subject to an ongoing investigation and we will be communicating with the affected residents accordingly.”
