A DOPEY burglar got himself caught in the daftest way possible – by illegally parking his untaxed motor right outside a police base.
Road safety partnership Surrey RoadSafe seized the van yesterday after clocking it parked outside its Vanguard Road Safety team base on Coltsfoot Drive, Guildford.
Having already been caught blocking the entrance, officers found the van to have no road tax, a smashed windscreen and faulty lights.
To add to the driver’s misery, he was already wanted for burglary and had evaded arrest up until his mistake.
The pictures show the silver Mercedes van after it was seized, highlighting the damage to its windscreen and one of the rear lights.
The post was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “This van driver picked the wrong spot to park—blocking the entrance to our Vanguard Road Safety Team base.
“Turns out, he was wanted for burglary, with no tax since June, a smashed windscreen, and faulty lights. Driver arrested, tickets issued, van seized.”
It has since received over 350 likes and more than 20 comments from social media users panning the bloke for his dopey error.
One wrote: “You really can’t teach this level of stupid.”
Another commented: “Three for the price of one. What an idiot. Great work.”
A third said: “Perhaps the dumb crim was instinctively handing himself in.”
Another wrote: “Obviously not a local then- everyone living round there knows that location.”
A fifth added: “Someone wanted for burglary was driving around with zero concern and the only reason he got arrested is bad parking, the state of the UK.”
