JK Rowling suggests renting bus to run her own Harry Potter tours after becoming fed up with “guff” peddled on Edinburgh’s existing tours

JK ROWLING has suggested renting a bus to run her own Harry Potter tours after becoming fed up with the “guff” being peddled on existing excursions.

Rowling appears to have taken issue with some of the tales being told on one of Edinburgh’s tours based around the book series about the boy wizard

The 59-year-old now seems to want to debunk the “nonsense” being spread herself, by setting up her own official tour in aid of charity.

Suggesting that she auction places on a hired bus, the outspoken author proposed that she spend an afternoon righting the wrongs being told by other tours before finishing up the day by taking everyone onboard to the pub

Rowling – who has become a source of controversy in recent years thanks to her gender-critical views which have often been described as transphobic – grew sick and tired of fans’ complaints about other tours’ claims.

Setting out her plan on social media last night, she wrote: “Today I heard a tale of the guff claimed as fact on a ‘Potter tour’ of Edinburgh.

“Now I’m considering hiring a bus and auctioning places on it for charity and spending an afternoon debunking the nonsense and pointing out bits no-one knows and then we could all go to the pub.

Whilst seemingly just a vague idea put forward as a joke, Rowling’s hypothetical super tour drew attention from fans the world over.

Racking up over 23,000 likes, her post saw more than 1,400 comments from fans clamouring for the fantasy author to bring the idea to life.

One user said: “That’s an incredible idea. Bringing the real magic to life.

“But here’s a question: What’s one secret about the Potter universe or its creation that you’ve never shared but think fans would be shocked to learn?”

Rowling responded: “How to make a Horcrux. The secret will go with me to my grave.”

Another fan commented: “I’ve fallen for the odd bit of Potter guff, especially the one about Tom Riddle’s grave being in Greyfriars Kirkyard. Still, it is fun to walk around a graveyard.”

A third replied: “We should dress you in disguise as a super fan, like in a Dumbledore costume, on one of these tours, and then anytime a detail is incorrect, you blurt out impolitely that it’s wrong.

“A few hidden cameras and it’s a series on Netflix.”

Another added: “Pre-book me on Seat 1A please, where the champagne is served.”

A fifth wrote: “Please do it but give me some time to organise my travel from Argentina.”
