James McAvoy admits just two drinks of whisky will make him “start fighting people”

HOLLYWOOD actor James McAvoy has admitted he will “start fighting people” after just two drinks of whisky.

The Scotsman, famous for his roles in X-Men and Split, appeared in a “snack wars” clip on Thursday, which saw him review a series of Scottish and English food and drink.

However, when asked to take a taste of a Scotch single malt whisky and an espresso martini and compare, the 45-year-old revealed to fans how a dram or two quickly goes to his head.

Starting by uncovering the two drinks, McAvoy says: “Ah here we have what I suspect is a glass of whisky, maybe it’s a Scotch and maybe it’s a single malt.”

Taking the opportunity to educate fans McAvoy continues: “Do we know what the difference is between a scotch and a single malt?”

He claims: “Scotch is what you call a blend of whiskies, because the term Scotch doesn’t mean Scottish, the term Scotch means to chop up and mix. Johnnie Walker was the original Scotch.”

With the lesson in whisky terminology over, McAvoy continues on to taste test the tipple provided.

After taking a sip, he exclaims, “That’s a single malt I think, isn’t it?” before an off-screen producer chips in to inform him that the box actually says it’s a Scotch single malt.

McAvoy exclaims: “Get to f**k. Can I see what it is? So okay, these guys are making single malt, they’re just playing to the lowest common denominator.”

Moving on to try the other drink provided McAvoy continues: “Anyway, we’re up against what I think looks like an espresso martini.”

He sips the cocktail to taste test it and, impressed, he says: “It’s sweet, it’s caffeinated, it’s got vodka in it which I love.

“I love whisky, but if I have two of these, I will start to get like…”

He then begins to jokingly act confrontationally towards the producers, exclaiming: “Why you using that lens?

“Why would you use a 25, you don’t want to use a 35? What, you don’t think my face can take it, aye? Smart move mate, smart move.”

He explains: “That’s what will happen if I drink more than two of those right. I know I’m going to take so much heat for that, but that will make me fight people.”

“So as much as I love my homeland, I’m going to say I canny (sic) drink it, I’ll just start fighting. So, it’s got to be this bougie espresso martini.”

The footage was shared to social media on Thursday with the caption: “Never, ever give James McAvoy more than two whiskeys.”

The video has since received over 280,000 likes and more than 1200 comments from social media users.

One user wrote: “Love him as an actor. Doesn’t know whiskey.”

Another replied: “Love Mr McAvoy but I’m afraid he’s wrong in this case.

“Scotch can be single malt and ‘Scotch’ does refer to ‘Scottish’, not the act of blending (see also ‘scotch pie’).”

A third added: “When the whiskey starts tasting like… why are you using that lens?”

Another commented: “Okay, why is that so attractive.”

A fifth said: “Love a man that knows his boundaries.”
