A DOPEY driver has been banned for three years after police pulled over a car with no front tyre – and found the woman inside over three times the legal alcohol limit.
Cambridgeshire Police nabbed the driver of a silver Volkswagen Golf in Huntingdon in October of last year after being contacted by a member of the public, who followed the driver home from Hartford Road
There, police found the car to be sporting only three tyres – with one on the front completely missing – and its owner, Emma Reedman, three times over the legal limit.
The 53-year-old was duly taken into custody before appearing at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court earlier this month, where she pled guilty to drink driving and was disqualified for three years and four months.
In an interview, Reedman had claimed that she only started drinking once she reached her home.
It was later confirmed by a toxicologist that if that were the case, her reading would have been much lower.
A post showing the bare hubcap of the car’s front wheel was posted to social media by Policing Huntingdonshire last Wednesday.
They wrote: “This vehicle was being driven by a woman who was more than three times the drink drive limit.
“She was followed by a member of the public who reported concerns to police.”
The post received over 300 likes and more than 40 comments from users left stunned at the daft driver’s selfishness.
One user said: “It really has become a case of drivers on our roads refusing to accept responsibility for our own driving behaviour.
“Poor and selfish attitudes and not paying attention to the road rules or conditions. Please be considerate.”
Another added: “Drunk drivers are a scourge on society.”
A third commented: “Take her licence off her permanently.”
Another replied: “Another selfish drunk caught, good work by all involved.”
A fifth wrote: “Should be banned permanently. What a bloody idiot, no excuse for drink driving.”
