Some even went as far as accusing him of using it as a ploy to avoid paying inheritance tax, with agricultural land being exempt.

In the video, Beckham, wearing a green checked shirt and flat cap, shares a morning walk around some of his land showing social media users what he is growing.

He greets the chickens and hens, who are munching away, before doing a tour of the plants and beds.

He talks about his spring onions, plum trees and flowers, before proudly showing off a large leafy kale plant he is particularly proud of.

Showing his potato plants, he shares his plans to make crisps, joking that he is a “savoury person.” finally, he shows off his berry bushes, which are his latest project.

Referring to the TV gardener, he says: “So, morning update from Mr Titchmarsh.”

The footballer was slammed on social media yesterday with a user sharing his video with the caption: “This is essentially wealthy man’s video gaming.

“You don’t need to actually make any money doing this or feed your family. There are no stakes. You’re just moving things around.

“Hanging out with animals and making sure the farm doesn’t collapse.”

It has since received over 48,000 likes and more than 780 comments, many of them equally as scathing

One wrote: “‘Farm life.’ And it’s just a small holding in his back yard. This is not farming. This is a common practice in the UK that is known as ‘hobby farming’

“Real farmers love taking the p**s out of guys like this… and sell them ewes for breeding at hugely inflated prices.”

A second said: “I live in the country – none of the farmers look like that. He is roleplaying.”

Another commented: “Yes. As a former hobby farmer, I can tell you, it’s a hobby. You don’t make money from hobbies, you pay to engage in them.

“It’s a great hobby but please, don’t think you’re just going to go ‘get a farm’ and a tradwife and run away from your problems.”

A fourth added: “[My] Grandmother always said people that are doing well don’t need to advertise unless they are starving for attention.”

Another said: “No inheritance tax on farmland. That’s why they do it.”
