THIS is the horrifying moment a group of machete-wielding thugs brawl in the street with blades, stabbing and slashing each other while the public watches on.
The horrific incident occurred in Southend-on-Sea, Essex on Saturday and was captured on video by a nearby pedestrian.
Video of the horrifying attack was later shared to social media in a bid to raise awareness around the need to stop gang violence.
The harrowing footage shows a group of men arguing in the road over some unknown disagreement.
One of the men, dressed in a grey tracksuit and wearing a balaclava, pulls a long machete from his trousers.
Another of the men then reaches into the driver’s side of his blue car parked on the road and retrieves a blade of his own.
He approaches the machete-wielding thug and the two begin to try and slash and stab one another.
The shocking display of casual violence leaves pedestrians unfazed as one shouts: “Be careful of that car.”
The knife fight soon descends into absolute chaos as several more men emerge from the darkness, each wielding weapon of their own to jump in and assist the grey-clad thug.
Realising he is outnumbered, the man with the blue car rushes back to his vehicle, fending off attacks from the gang of thugs.
He tries to climb into his car and escape as he is assaulted by the gang, appearing to receive a number of wounds as he climbs into his vehicle and tries to drive away.
His car window is suddenly smashed by a knife and the grey tracksuit wearing thug uses the machete to slash at the man’s head and upper body several times before he manages to drive off.
He can be heard screaming as he is struck with blades by the gang, stuck in the driver’s seat of his car with nowhere to run.
Members of the public rush down the road, shouting at the gang of armed men to stop the attack.
The footage was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “Happened in Southend last night.”
It has since received over 10,000 likes and more than 1,400 comments from appalled social media users.
One user said: “If you start sending real cops armed with guns, and shoot a couple of these animals, this won’t last long.”
Another wrote: “We need more police out having a presence in our towns and cities at all times now. This can’t keep happening without response.”
A third replied: “Sword fights seem like they are now part of everyday life. That’s not a good thing.”
Another added: “Hope they’re all prosecuted.”
A fifth sarcastically commented: “They should make stabbing people with machetes in the street illegal.”
