WATCH as a cyclist clashes with angry drivers in his bid to confront “entitled” road users while riding through the streets of Glasgow.
Alan Myles was cycling along Springburn Road in the north of the city yesterday when he encountered one driver using his phone.
Footage from a camera mounted to his helmet captured the moment his warning to the bloke was met with a foul-mouthed tirade.
Later in his journey, he locked horns with a van driver blocking the pavement, who berated him for “staring” at another driver he spotted on their phone.
The footage shows Alan slipping through the gap between lanes as traffic queues at a red light, clocking the driver of a red Mitsubishi to his right using his phone as he passes.
Alan stops and moves back slightly, calling out: “Put your phone down mate, yeah?”
At the next set of lights, he makes to stop in the cycle box in front of the traffic but is heckled by the bloke in the car.
He shouts: “Keep your comments to yourself you f***ing d**k, okay?”
When questioned by Alan, he protests his innocence, claiming: “I was doing a sat nav. You’re a w***er.”
He aggressively points his finger at Alan, repeatedly calling him a “w***er”.
Alan says: “You know that using your phone is illegal?”
Alan’s point, however, is met with: “You’re a f***ing d**k”.
The motorist then winds up his window before Alan has a chance to reply.
The footage then cuts to Alan riding along a residential street, where he clocks a woman in a red Mercedes using her phone but says nothing, instead only shaking his head as he looks at her.
His actions are noticed by a van driver parked up on the pavement nearby though, who shouts: “What are you staring at her for?”
Alan then stops and turns around, showing the van parked on the pavement, almost completely blocking it.
He shouts back: “Because she’s on her phone. Do you not obey any laws? Do you not obey the law?”
The van driver appears to largely ignore the question though and hops back in his van unbothered, which angers Alan further.
He gets the last word in, pointing out: “She was on her phone, you’re on the pavement.”
The clip was shared to social media today with the caption: “The entitled road (and pavement) users were angry today.
“Does anyone else know of any other type of criminal that gets so upset about being caught?
It has since received a slew of likes and comments from social media users sharing their thoughts.
One wrote: “Nice confession on tape. It’s illegal to hold and use a phone, sat nav, tablet, or any device that can send or receive data, while driving or riding a motorcycle.”
A second said: “Typical small d**k energy driver in a big car.”
Another added: “You’re questioning the driver overlords. It’s the automatic response on the f**k around and find out curve.
“The phone driver should get a notice of intended prosecution. I doubt they’ll change their behaviour so best take away their driving privileges.”
