“Embarrassing” Scotland fans scrap amongst themselves in stands of Hampden Park during national side’s defeat to Poland

TWO “embarrassing” Scotland fans have been filmed scrapping in the stands of Hampden Park during the defeat to Poland.

The national side suffered a 2-3 defeat on home turf last night thanks to a 97th minute penalty scored by the visitors’ Nicola Zalewski.

Whether because of flared emotions as a result of the loss, or for another reason entirely, a fight broke out between two members of the Tartan Army, who traded blows high up in the stands that left one of the duo on the ground and the other shirtless.

Video footage filmed by fellow fans from two different angles shows two men grappling with one another in the stands, ripping at each other’s Scotland strips.

The two fans brawled in the stands over an unknown disagreement.

Punches are thrown as the two men duke it out over an unknown slight and shocked fans watch their countrymen in embarrassment.

One of the two men rips the others shirt off and delivers a flurry of blows to his opponents bare back.

He then loses his footing and falls to the floor landing hard on the concrete stairs of the stadium’s stands.

His opponent tries to beat him while he is down but luckily fans and stadium staff intervene to end the brawl before it can escalate further.

In the background, another fan appears to be being attacked but seems to be putting up little resistance and instead pleads to quell the violence.

Two stewards in high vis jackets then rush into frame to separate the fighters as fans can be heard shouting: “Oi, oi, oi.”

The footage was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “This is what Steve Clarke’s Scotland does to people.”

It has since received over 250 likes and dozens of comments from Scots panning their fellow fans for their behaviour.

One user said: “Dirty tims at it again. Can’t take they (sic) simpletons anywhere.”

Another wrote: “Who gets that excited about a ‘Nations League’ game?”

A third replied: “But the Tartan Army never fight.”

Another commented: “Embarrassing that.”

A fifth added: “Bawbag. What’s that got to do with your nationality?
