The PUBLIC will be able to view and comment on updated proposals for the development at the site of the former Saica packaging facility.
Promoted by Summix Capital, the residential-led Maybury Quarter Edinburgh aims to redevelop the former industrial site on Turnhouse Road, which covers 15.5-acres.
Summix are holding what is to be their second public consultation event for the project on Wednesday September 11, 2024 at Delta Hotels by Marriott, 111 Glasgow Rd, Edinburgh between 2pm and 7pm.
This is to provide the local community with the opportunity to shape the proposals, prior to the submission of a planning application to City of Edinburgh Council later this year.
Summix say that their flagship low-carbon neighbourhood aims to deliver a mixed-use comprising of residential, senior living, hotel, commercial and retail uses.
It will aim to deliver:
- 1000 homes
- Hotel – 120-150 rooms
- Retail/potential local centre – 30,000 sq. ft. overall
- Extensive green spaces
The current brownfield site is allocated in the Council’s City Plan 2030 for residential-focused redevelopment.
The housing proposed will include affordable housing, in an attempt to address the city’s housing emergency and includes the provision of accessible family homes and Build to Rent accommodation.
The second consultation will respond to feedback and comments from this first event and other stakeholder engagement.
Further information will be made available on a Maybury Quarter website, which will host consultation materials from the day of the event.
