Brazen shoplifter evades police capture after being caught nicking whopping 15 packets of chicken

A BRAZEN shoplifter has evaded police capture after being caught nicking a whopping 15 packets of chicken.

Officers in Welling, South East London received a call yesterday about a bloke making his getaway from an Iceland store with a basket full of chicken in hand.

Confronting him at a train station, officers pursued the thief on foot, when the suspect promptly ditched the bag he was carrying and took off down the tracks.

Bemused police officers duly found the bag filled with 15 separate packets of raw chicken – and assured their suspect that despite evading them for now, the “yolks on him”.

A snap taken post-chase by officers shows the bloke’s haul that he nearly made off with.

There are 15 plastic packets of chicken, consisting of 12 packs of mini fillets and three packs of diced chicken.

All marked with the Iceland branding, the shoplifter clearly had no shame in trying all of his luck in the one store.

Police officers took the theft light-heartedly though, sharing a pun-filled post to social media yesterday, writing: “Shoplifter up to his old chicks.

“PCs received a call regarding a male heading towards the train station with a basket full of chicken.

“A foot chase at the station resulted in the male making off down the train tracks, leaving the chicken behind. Yolks on you as we know who you are.”

It has since received a slew of likes and comments from social media users left chuckling at the incident.

One commented: “Sounds like a clear case of fowl play.”

A second said: “Please keep me abreast of this story.”

Another wrote: “Hey, why are you helping the shop? If the shop is divi (sic) enough to let them get to it, it’s their loss.”

Another added: “That is also a lot of plastic.”
