Scotland’s other national drink gets a big thumbs up from Tanzanian tribe after their first taste test of Irn-Bru

A TANZANIAN tribe are the latest to lend their praises to Irn-Bru after sharing their first taste test of Scotland’s other national drink.

Male members of the nomadic Maasai tribe in central Africa are learning the ins and outs of social media, and their latest stunt saw them trying out a bottle of the orange stuff on Friday.

Known on social media as the Maasai Boys, the group of men had nothing but good things to say about the fizzy drink – despite having some initial difficulties with the pronunciation.

The group’s video shows them sitting in a semi-circle while two of their number test out the fizzy orange drink.

The tribesmen loved the orange beverage.

One of the two that tests the beverage introduces the video saying: “This drink is making you more strong (sic).”

The footage then cuts to him and his friend holding the bottles of Irn Bru up to their ear and pretending to be on the phone, with the pair saying: “Hello Scotland.”

It then cuts again to show the group having a ball as they open the bottles after shaking them, spraying the gathered tribe and eliciting big laughs and cheers.

One of the men explains: “Last time we tested the one with alcohol from Germany, called Jagermeister.”

He examines the blue and orange bottle as he explains to the camera: “People from Scotland, they like to drink the drink called Irn Bru.”

The bottle is then passed to his pal, who pops the lid off and takes a look as he says, whilst mispronouncing the drink’s name: “Okay so I’m going to try it, Iron Broom.”

The pair laugh at his gaffe before commencing their taste test of the carbonated beverage.

After sipping the drink, the two men deliver their positive verdict, the first saying: “Wow. Really nice, looks a little bit like apple punch.”

The other agrees: “The flavour is like apple punch.”

The two then give their bottles a shake before unscrewing the lid, causing the Irn-Bru inside to explode out, making other onlookers howl with laughter as they try to get the fizz under control.

The footage of the Maasai Boys’ taste test was shared to social media on Friday with the caption: “The best comment decides what we try next.”

It has since received over 31,000 likes and more than 945 comments from chuffed Scots who took a quick liking to the tribe and their taste in drinks.

One user said: “Scotland is the only country where Coca-Cola isn’t the number one drink, it’s Irn-Bru.”

Another wrote: “Get these men some Buckfast.”

A third replied: “You should visit Scotland, it’s a real nice place, come in wintertime and see the snow.”

Another added: “The Maasai are beautiful people, and they seem to have excellent taste in refreshments too.”

A fifth commented: “Your fabric looks a lot like our tartan, I think that makes us family.”
