WATCH the moment chaos breaks out between “Swansea’s finest” in a Poundland branch in the Welsh city.
Two men were involved in the incident in the store on Oxford Street in the city centre yesterday.
A heated shouting match led to one of the blokes lunging for the other, grabbing him by the neck and pulling him to the floor before bystanders stepped in to break the pair apart.
Video captured by another customer showed one of the men, wearing glasses and dressed in a tracksuit, shouting and pointing in another man’s face.
Already mid-argument, the bloke can be heard yelling: “I will report it, I will f**king report it.”
The other doesn’t appear to react much at first, before calmly placing his belongings on the floor as his aggressor eggs him on, shouting: “Go on, hit me.”
The man’s wishes are duly granted as he turns towards the door, with the bloke he was just taunting suddenly launching himself at him.
The man wraps an arm around his neck and drags him down to the floor, where he pushes him down to stop him struggling as gasps can be heard from onlookers.
A woman can be heard shouting: “No, Richard, no.”
A bystander is quick to pull the two apart and ensure the man on the ground is unhurt before calming him down and walking him out of the shop.
A Poundland employee can be seen confronting his attacker in the background.
Another man walking past appears to make a comment about the scrap to the person filming, who quips: “I know right? Welcome to Swansea, Swansea’s finest.”
The man in glasses then attempts to re-enter the shop, pointing angrily, but is stopped by his rescuer.
The clip then cuts to two police officers talking to a woman and the original attacker, who appears to have calmed down and is in jolly spirits.
The man filming says: “You’ve got to always give a shoutout to the police when they need it.
“In fairness, they did arrive within 20 minutes of the incident happening. No doubt if this was a tweet online, they would have been here within seconds, but there we go.”
The video was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “The battle of Poundland, Swansea.”
It has since received a host of likes and comments from social media users sharing their thoughts.
One wrote: “Did he find out… not everything is a pound?”
A second said: “Did he steal a pound from him?”
Another commented: “It seems like the man was walking away. If you get 20 months for a Facebook post, you should get life for that.”
A fourth said: “S**thouse move. Attacking when his back was turned. That is assault, but knowing Swansea cops, they’ll commend him.”
