BRITS have been left in stitches after a passenger travelling through Heathrow Airport spotted a sneaky cover-up job to hide a leaking roof.
Andy Monks was travelling through Terminal 5 on his way to Dublin yesterday when he spotted a large plant pot in the middle of the floor.
With another plant nearby, it could have fitted in well with its surroundings – were it not for a dead giveaway.
The excessive health and safety measures and signage around it clued on that the greenery wasn’t there simply to be enjoyed by passengers, but instead seemed to serve as a low-effort method of hiding a dripping roof.
An image snapped by Andy shows the black square planter sitting smack in the middle of the concourse towards baggage reclaim, with long green leaves trailing from it.
It is protected by barriers surrounding it and rubber mats underneath.
Two yellow wet floor signs can be seen at either side, as if the hazard wasn’t obvious already.
Aviation worker Andy, who would likely be no stranger to seeing odd sights in airports, shared the snap to social media yesterday with the caption: “That’s quite an ingenious way of pretending the roof isn’t leaking…”
It has since received more than 160 likes and a host of comments from people left amused by the dodgy cover-up.
One wrote: “You mean the water feature?”
A second said: “Just needs a pot at each corner.”
Another quipped: “By design of course.”
A fourth, who appeared to work at Heathrow, said: “We aim to please.”
Another commented: “Genius idea.”
