Dopey far right protesters attack police van in attempt to bring down facial recognition camera, forcing officers to flee

DOPEY far right protesters have filmed themselves trying to tear down a mobile facial recognition camera, forcing police officers inside the van to flee.

The attack unfolded during a protest in Rotherham, Sheffield on Sunday, which saw a large group of rioters – whose faces ironically appeared on camera – attacking a police van with mounted facial recognition tech.

A large pole attached to the van holds a camera above the crowd – which the mob tried to bring down by violently shaking the van, forcing officers to make a hasty getaway as the pole wobbled precariously.

The footage of the incident shows hundreds of protesters gathered in the street, with their faces ironically on display in the footage.

The protesters almost took the camera down.
The protesters almost took the camera down.

The van can be seen parked a little way down the road from the man recording, already shaking.

Dozens of protesters surround the vehicle and work at shaking it side to side with the camera pole visibly bending under the strain.

The shaking becomes more violent as more protesters join in and the whole vehicle begins to tip side to side.

Eventually the officers inside the van carrying the camera make the decision to get out of there before any harm befalls them or their equipment.

As they drive off a loud cheer erupts from the surrounding protesters, keen to celebrate their small victory.

The video was posted to social media yesterday with the caption: “Meanwhile in Rotherham, UK.

“Protesters not keen on police facial recognition camera vehicles force them to quickly drive off.”

The footage has since received over 23,000 likes and more than 610 comments from social media users.

One user said: “Good for them. The people of GB don’t want their country to be ruled by a totalitarian government that uses two-tier policing.”

Another wrote: “Bully the state.”

A third replied: “A drone equipped with a trash bag can work wonders.”

Another commented: “Full force of the law is working then.”

A fifth added: “All the dummies within the vicinity have been recorded and will be arrested within a week.”
