AN ENTITLED Edinburgh cyclist has been slammed online after swerving in front of a tram and sticking two fingers up at the driver.
The cyclist blocked the tram on the capital’s Princes Street yesterday when he swerved out of the dedicated cycle lane and opted to use the tram tracks instead.
Spotted by those on the city streets, the brazen biker couldn’t escape being photographed right in the moment that he flipped the V towards the tram driver he’d just cut off.
Locals have since branded the cyclist as a “self-entitled muppet” for his flippant attitude.
An image shows the cyclist, wearing a helmet and striped shirt, turning back over his shoulder and making a rude gesture at the tram stuck behind him.
The image, taken on Princes Street, clearly shows a cycle lane available for the man to use, but he has opted instead to cycle on the tram tracks in the middle of the road.
The entitled cyclist completely blocks the tram behind him which is trying to make its way along the street, forcing it to slow down to his pace.
A number of other cyclists can be seen using the cycle lane as intended, avoiding creating any congestion by staying to the side of the road.
The offending bike rider appears to have pulled out of the cycle lane and onto the road in a display of impatience, trying to pass the other cyclists in the cycle lane.
The image was shared to social media yesterday with the sarcastic caption: “Why didn’t the tram driver move out of his way, are trams stupid?
“Step 1 – Cut up a tram to beat the queue of cyclists in the dedicated lane. Step 2 – Try to hold up the tram by going slow, even though it has to go slow around that corner.
“Step 3 – Victory?”
The post received over 425 likes and more than 55 comments from locals condemning the man’s entitled behaviour.
One user claimed: “That’s me cycling on the very left, that guy was yelling abuse at the tram driver.”
Another wrote: “I feel for the tram driver, I get muppet car drivers and cyclists holding my 44-tonne HGV (that could just squash them) up like this all the time.
“Self-entitled muppets, every one of them.”
A third replied: “Yeah, as a cyclist, this guy is being an idiot for sure. Ignoring perfectly good infrastructure right there just to be a fanny.”
Another commented: “Grade A bam behaviour from the cyclist.”
A fifth wrote: “This is why (some) folk loathe cyclists. Plonker.”
