‘The Great Depression plate’ – Brits ridicule less than generous ‘full English’ at Cotswolds hotel

BRITS have ridiculed a less than generous “full English” served up at a hotel in the Cotswolds, with one branding it the “Great Depression plate”.

The measly meal was served up to one unlucky diner at the New Inn Hotel in Lechlade-on-Thames, Gloucestershire this morning.

Most of the traditional fry-up elements can be seen on the plate, but it is the size of the portion that has left Brits online appalled.

The unnamed diner was charged an outrageous £10 for the privilege and was left wondering where the other half of the brekkie was.

A cooked breakfast on a white plate with a brown rim, on a wooden table with a white mug in the background. On the plate is one sausage, one rasher of bacon, half a tomato, a small serving of scrambled eggs, sliced mushrooms and one hash brown, all garnished with a few herbs.

An image snapped by the diner shows the plate their breakfast is presented on dwarfing the paltry portion.

The offering consists of a single sausage and rasher of bacon, a spoonful of scrambled eggs, half a tomato, one hash brown and a few sliced mushrooms.

The sausage and bacon in particular have been the main subjects of ridicule, with users online suggesting the former has been cooked “with a hairdryer”,

Some herbs have then been chucked on top of the meal in a half-hearted attempt at garnishing.

The picture was shared to social media by the unimpressed Brit today with the caption: “‘Full’ English.”

It has since received over 70 comments from bemused breakfast enthusiasts keen to join in with their insults.

One said: “Didn’t know social distancing was back. That hash brown is having none of it. That’s not great for the money.”

A second commented: “Is it a really, really big plate close up? With a giant tea mug?”

Another wrote: “The Great Depression plate. Wouldn’t be a ‘full’ even with the tablespoon of beans.”

A fourth said: “Looks like the sausage was cooked with a hair dryer.”

Another commented: “Putting it bluntly, that’s s**t.”
