AN AMBITIOUS English football fan has been left red-faced after preemptively getting a celebratory tattoo ahead of the Euro 2024 final.
The unnamed bloke, confident that his side would be crowned victorious in Sunday’s final against Spain, boldly headed to the tattoo parlour beforehand.
Opting to get his wrist inked, the man’s tattoo celebrated England as the glorious winners of the competition.
However, following the side’s 2-1 defeat, the decision has been the subject of ridicule from other fans, with one even branding it the “one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen”.
One of the man’s pals snapped an image of the tattoo across the bloke’s right wrist, which is written in a haphazard font.
Mincing no words, the tattoo simply reads: “England Euro 2024 Winners.”
Tattooed in a solid black, the skin around the writing remains slightly red as the permanent inkwork settles into the man’s skin.
Having placed the tattoo on his wrist, the bloke will have a hard time hiding his blunder from people – with some online advising he “get it completely removed as soon as possible”.
The image was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “My mate got a tattoo ready for England winning the Euro Championship.”
The post received over 5,700 likes and more than 450 comments from social media users quick to pounce on the man’s preemptive gaffe.
One user said: “Just put winners in quotation marks. ‘Winners’. Then it becomes ironic and cool?”
Another wrote: “I mean getting it completely removed as soon as possible is probably the best.”
A third replied: “Might just lean into it, cross it off every four years and add a new year at the top. See how long it will get.”
Another commented: “Frankly, I think this is a pretty questionable tattoo to get after your team won.
“Getting it before the game is genuinely one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen.”
A fifth added: “It’s intense watching a game when you have money on it. Imagine watching a game with tattoo accuracy riding on it.”
