ENGLAND football fans were slammed for coming up with an “embarrassing” new chant about missing British teenager Jay Slater.
A swarm of fans gathered at Liverpool Street station in Central London yesterday ahead of the side’s appearance in the Euros final against Spain.
The new chant, bawled by revellers in poor taste, makes light of the missing teen and has been branded as “disgusting” by unimpressed Brits online.
Video shows the large crowd of England supporters – clad in national team shirts and drinking on the street – chanting ceaselessly.
The crowd sings the words of the disgusting new chant on repeat, saying: “We want Jay Slater back, we want Jay Slater back.”
A crowd of dozens of footy fans can be seen in the footage mockingly chanting the words, demanding the return of the missing teen.
Jay Slater, 19, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, has been missing for almost a month, with the apprentice bricklayer not being heard from since 17 June.
The British teen was on holiday in Tenerife when he disappeared after phoning a friend in the early hours of the morning to say he was lost, and that his phone was going to die.
Since then, the teen hasn’t been seen or heard from with Spanish police calling off the search two weeks ago.
Despite the dire situation, the English footy fans haven’t learned a lesson and looked to mock the missing lad openly with the latest chant.
The footage of the fans chanting their new song was posted to social media yesterday with the caption: “We want Jay Slater back. F***ing love this country.”
The post has received over 24,000 likes and more than 335 comments from shocked social media users.
One user said: “That is so funny and inappropriate.”
Another added: “Classy as ever England fans.”
A third wrote sarcastically: “He’ll be back by the morning, well done lads.”
Another commented: “How grim is this?”
A fifth replied: “Embarrassing.”
