A CHARMING British seaside home has hit the market for what appears to be a bargain price of just £60.
The fixer-upper bungalow in Walcott, Norfolk lies right on the picturesque seafront of England’s east coast and boasts three bedrooms and a generous-sized garden.
Listed on property website Rightmove yesterday by Auction House East Anglia, the property appears to be available to a lucky buyer for an extraordinarily low guide price of just £60.
The slightly shabby-looking white bungalow sits on the edge of a beach, so does live up to the views promised in the listing.
The beach itself can be accessed by a gate at the rear of the property.
The interior of the bungalow requires a bit of work, with the living room, dining room and bathroom looking dated and in need of some serious modernisation.
However, this could be looked past by any would-be buyer considering the price that the home initially seems to be available for.
The listing reads: “Stunning location. This nonstandard construction property is situated down a private road within the North Norfolk village of Walcott.
“The owners have been restoring this property to include sea defencing to the boundary and installation of a modern kitchen, however it could benefit from further maintenance.
“The location has to be the selling point of this property as it has stunning views of the sea, you couldn’t get closer if you tried.”
Upon further inspection in the listing, it is revealed that the initial £60 at the head of the advert seems to be a typo, with the suggested price tag within the listing actually being £60,000 to £80,000.
The guide price remains uncorrected by auctioneers Auction House East Anglia, with the property being shared to social media by amused Brits yesterday with the caption: “£60 house. If only.”
The post has since received dozens of likes and comments from users quick to poke fun at the error and share their thoughts on the property.
One wrote: “I’m writing them an email to offer £55. See what the vendor is willing to do to avoid auction fees.”
A second said: “I’ll give them £300. That’s well above the asking price.”
Another jokingly replied: “It’s people like you who are ruining the housing market.
“Coming in at five times the asking price just stops working people like myself getting a foot on the ladder. The rich get richer.”
Another commented: “‘Stunning location overlooking the sea’. Probably surrounded by the sea in a few years.”
A fourth added: “I wonder what it will go for? I can feel those cold sea winds whistling through the walls.
“Better deal than those silly beach cabins/storage huts that sell for £200,000+.”
One scathingly said: “It’s a fancy shack.”
