ED DAVEY was spotted making a splash on his campaign trail as he joined in on an aqua aerobics class.
The Liberal Democrat leader was seen enthusiastically getting involved with the session at Sandford Parks Lido yesterday in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
The 58-year-old hopped in the outdoor pool with a group of over 20 people but cheekily started to wreak havoc as he sent waves of water crashing over those next to him.
Video shows Davey standing front and centre in the group, wearing a black t-shirt and shorts as he jogs on the spot.
An instructor can be seen demonstrating the next move and calling out directions over the sound of people chatting as Taylor Swift’s tune Shake It Off plays in the background.
The group then switches to waving their arms over the surface of the water with varying degrees of intensity.
Davey copies the moves, albeit slightly over-enthusiastically, complete with animated facial expressions.
The former Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change then swings his arms with such force that he launches water over the people around him.
Thankfully, they take it well and return the gesture, with some splashing him back as the class erupts into laughter.
The video was shared to social media yesterday with the caption: “Ed Davey doing an aqua aerobics class at Cheltenham Lido.”
It has since received over 4,400 likes and more than 100 comments from users left tickled by the Lib Dem leader’s lax campaigning efforts.
One wrote: “Goodness. Love that man. Make him a leader of welfare and cheerfulness.”
Another said: “Certainly knows what to do to get noticed. I think that was the plan and it’s worked.”
A third commented: “I’m beginning to think Ed Davey joined the Lib Dems just so that he gets an excuse to tick 20 more items off his bucket list every five years.”
Another quipped: “I was expecting to see him pop up at Glastonbury this weekend.”
A fifth joked: “He might not get that bloke’s vote to the left of him. Lots of splashing.”
