Tiny London studio flat just over 2m wide slammed by Brits after hitting market for staggering £280k

BRITS have slammed a tiny London studio apartment measuring just over 2m wide after it hit the market for a whopping £280,000.

The tiny property is in Pimlico, Central London, and despite its hefty price tag, was reduced earlier this month by estate agents The London Broker.

Offering just 16 sq m of space, the property has drawn criticism over the living situation it offers.

Brits have focused on the sleeping area, suspended above its main room, which, despite not being a bedroom, has been added to the total square footage of the property.

The apartment boasts a “clever living area layout” according to the description on property search site Rightmove.

Images reveal that most of the floor space is taken up by the oven, fridge, sink and kitchen cupboards along one wall, and a desk and chest of drawers squeezed along the other.

A basic, cramped-looking bathroom is tucked in off the narrow entrance hall.

The upper level is accessible by a ladder, with seemingly not much space between the bed and ceiling.

The agent’s description tries to get the most out of what the flat lacks in space, reading: “Modern and smartly designed studio apartment on the 2nd floor, with great ceiling height and mezzanine level.

“Situated in a grand white stucco fronted building in the heart of Pimlico

“Comprising an upper level for sleeping and a clever living area layout with fully fitted kitchen, contemporary bathroom and storage.”

However, house-hunters have been left unconvinced by the size of the property and its dubious sleeping area.

It was shared to social media last Sunday with the caption: “Does this even count as a one-bedroom apartment?”.

The post has since received more than 70 comments from disgruntled users.

One said: “It is bad enough that they think they can call this a one bedroom, which clearly by no stretch of the imagination can that be considered another room.

“In fact, it barely counts as a studio.

“But the really shocking thing is that bunk bed contraption has been added to the size of the flat.”

Another added: “That’s not a bedsit, it’s a bedstand. No room for a decent sofa and TV.”

A third quipped: “F**k. It’s great being Northern, I can get a detached gaff with a garage for less than that.”

Another criticised the flat’s lack of seating: “The most comfortable seat in that flat is the toilet.

“You’d literally spend your evenings on the porcelain throne because everything else is worse.”

Others were quick to judge the likely buyer of such a property.

One commented: “No one is buying this to live in themselves.

“Definitely one for some wealthy investors to expand their rental portfolio.

“Could charge silly rent for a never-ending stream of short-term renters.”

A second agreed: “We all know this is going to be bought by a scummy landlord who will rent this out for far too much money than it deserves.”
