THIS is the moment that a Scots tourist relaxes during his trip to Japan – by wandering the streets with one of Scotland’s most well-loved alcoholic drinks – Buckfast.
The tourist was enjoying his holiday in Osaka, Japan last week when he filmed himself finishing off a “half b” of tonic wine Buckfast.
The keen traveller gushed of his love for the tonic before responsibly placing the bottle next to a pile of rubbish and hoping that a fellow Scot might see it on the street.
Video shows the Scotsman, sporting a hat and zipper jacket as he stands on a bridge, holding the familiar green bottle of tonic.
The man says: “Woah look at that, I’m in the middle of f***ing Osaka, Japan and I’m going to finish off this half b and maybe just go and f***ing get up to something.”
As the man polishes off his drink, he looks around and is astounded to see a large, animated dog on an advert across the road.
The boozed-up tourist then begins to saunter down the streets of Osaka as he explains his thoughts on the tonic drink.
He says: “Surely, I must be one of the only people ever to have been drinking half bottles-.”
The Scotsman then tries to bin the glass bottle but seemingly fails to realise the bin is upside down in his tipsy state.
Whilst chatting to the camera, the responsible tourist places his bottle next to an empty Asahi can and a white binbag filled with rubbish.
The camera pans to show a white Mercedes driving down the street as the tourist tells of his hopes of “frying” his fellow countryman’s heads.
Speaking to the camera, he adds: “I hope to f**k some Scottish person is just passing by here by chance and goes like that to his missus, ‘Is that a f***ing half b?’
“Actually, imagine that, imagine how fried your wee head would be – you’d be wondering why there is a half b sitting on the ground in Japan.”
The Scot’s monologue is interrupted as he spots a uniquely designed motorcycle that leaves him speechless as the video ends.
The video was shared to social media last week with the caption: “Has anyone else ever sent a half b in Japan? My last half bottle of Buckfast in Osaka.
“I brought six with me over here and that’s them done, heavy gutter but what a laugh.”
His post received over 15,000 likes with hundreds of comments from fellow Scots who were stunned to see the tonic wine make its way to the land of the rising sun.
One said: “Get the find my Bucky app going, you’d be surprised how far it travels.”
Another replied: “Bucky in Japan, living the dream.”
A third commented: “The audacity of drinking Buckfast in Osaka.”
Another added: “Always take Buckfast everywhere I go.”
A fifth remarked: “On the tonic in Japan.”
Incredibly, one of Japan’s most loved drinks, Ramune, was invented by a Scotsman over 140 years ago in Kobe, Japan.
Alexander Cameron Sim created the drink in 1884 which now comes in a variety of flavours including original lemon and lime as well as orange, peach, grape and matcha.
