PRINCESS Diana’s London family home has hit the market for the first time in 22 years – but buyers will need deep pockets, with a quoted price of nearly £11m.
The house at 24 Farm Street in Mayfair, Central London once belonged to Countess Raine Spencer, Diana’s stepmother, and is now up for sale with a price tag of a whopping £10.95m.
Princess Diana and her stepmother did not get along, with the late princess turfing Raine out of the family’s Althorp House after Diana’s father, the Earl John Spencer, died in 1992.
Countess Spencer then moved into the Mayfair townhouse that was bought as a gift by her late husband in 1990, before selling it in the early 2000s to art collectors Alan and Mary Hobart.
After the Hobarts’ deaths in 2021 and February this year, respectively, the home hit the market for the first time in over two decades earlier this month.
Listed by property agents Chesterons, the home boasts several swanky features alongside its illustrious ownership history including a rooftop terrace and staff accommodation.
Just a stone’s throw away from Buckingham Palace, the property, sprawling over 454 sq m across five floors, offers four bedrooms and five bathrooms.
Agents Chestertons wrote of the property: “On the market for the first time in 22 years, a trophy home with an illustrious history located in the heart of Mayfair.
“Former occupants included Countess Raine Spencer and the Hobart family.
“This impressive five-storey townhouse was built in the early 1980’s, featuring sash windows, charming reception rooms, generous bedroom suites, a private roof terrace, staff accommodation and a modern passenger lift to all floors.
“The house also has a private garage in a secure underground car park, just a few steps away.
“Offering an abundance of outside space with lower ground and ground floor patios and a third floor south-facing roof terrace, ideal for summer entertaining.”
The property listing was spotted by eagle-eyed house hunters and shared to social media yesterday.

One user said: “An even more normal property. (Beautiful though, and honestly, I hadn’t quite realised Diana’s family were that wealthy until I saw that picture)”
Another commented: “Her dad is an Earl. They are that wealthy and some.”
A third added: “Totally, a ‘Peoples’ Princess’ if you will.
“I always saw her down the high street on a Saturday morning, or in the pub with a pint of Carling and some pork scratchings on a Friday night. Proper normal, that bird.”
Another wrote: “I want to see the house next door.”
A fifth replied “Beautiful house, but I find it fascinating how someone might pay £10m for a terraced house.
“That much money and you’ll never get the privacy of a detached or even semi.”
