Tartan Army members blown away by German hospitality as random stranger leaves beers at their Airbnb door

TARTAN Army members who had already experienced top class hospitality in Germany have once again been blown away by the kindness of strangers.

Gordon Bonnes was staying in Cologne with pals ahead of the Scotland vs Switzerland game on Wednesday and was kindly provided step-by-step instructions on how to get to the stadium from their doorstep by their Airbnb host.

Already impressed by the hospitality provided, the icing was put on the cake for the Motherwell fan upon arriving back post-match to find a stranger had left two free beers outside their door.

A friendly note accompanied the beers, explaining they had come from a stranger who had realised the chaps were staying nearby after seeing Gordon’s post on social media thanking the Airbnb host.

Gordon’s post had thanked the host for the printed directions, and a snap accompanying it revealed where he was staying.

The post warmed the hearts of Germans and Scots alike and one kind-hearted local took it upon himself to give a warm welcome to the boys.

A follow-up snap from Gordon shows the two Reissdorf Kolsch beers sitting by the Airbnb accommodation alongside a note which has a small Scotland flag drawn on it.

The note reads: “I saw your post earlier on Twitter and since I live roundabout (sic) five minutes away, I figured I could bring you a beer or two. Cheers mate.”

Blown away by the gesture, Gordon took to social media yesterday to share the snap, writing: “Further development regarding last night.

“Somebody was kind enough to drop off a couple of beers for us to enjoy after the game.

“I love Germany, will definitely be back.”

The post racked up over 18,000 likes and more than 120 comments from users struck by the German’s kindness.

The generous stranger behind the gesture even replied to Gordon’s post, writing: “I didn’t know how [many] you guys were (sic) but glad you enjoyed it!”

Another user said: “Great. Germans are so kind and friendly.”

A third added: “Not going to lie, the Germans fell in love with you Scots. You’ll be welcome anytime.”

Another replied: “The people of Cologne are well known for being nice and friendly.”

A fifth commented: “Cologne is an amazing place with great people.”
