A SCOTTISH technology services company has agreed a deal to acquire a fellow agency with hopes of developing digital product development capability.
Waracle has made a deal to acquire Screenmedia, a design and software engineering agency.
Waracle employs a team of 145 people and Screenmedia having a team of 60, the two will join together with a staff of more than 200.
Founded in 2008, Waracle has experience in digital product development, mobile app and AI and has offices in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dundee.
The company hopes the acquisition will improve its offerings as artificial intelligence becomes more prominent in the technology services industry and the market evolves.
Waracle is backed by BGF, a growth capital investor, and has clients across many organisations like ScottishPower and Imperial College London with the acquisition being hoped to expand this client base further.
Chris Martin, Waracle CEO, stated: “We are ready for the new wave of AI-enhanced, intelligent customer experiences.
“This is a strategic business decision to continue our growth. We reviewed what we needed to succeed going forward and this acquisition was a key part of the answer.”
Chris is certain that making acquisitions like this one alongside further organic growth will guarantee that Waracle stays ahead of its clients needs and demands.
Chris added: “This is the first step in our ambitious plans to grow by acquiring design and technology services agencies with complementary skillsets.
“We want to continue to employ talented technologists to solve our clients’ digital problems and be able to service changing client needs across the UK by covering a wider range of technologies like service design, artificial intelligence and sensors.
“There are a lot of large, London-based technology consultancies attempting to grow their presence north of the border. We are doing the same in England and we have a strong and growing team there with ambitious plans for further acquisitions.
“We want to capitalise on our reputation as an unrivalled mobile development partner and continue to take those problem-solving abilities across the UK, to make sure that technology challenges are being addressed by talented, local and engaged teams rather than near-shoring or off-shoring solutions.”
Following the acquisition, Chris Martin will remain the CEO of the combined operation and Kenny Shaw will step away from day-to-day operations with Screenmedia becoming a part of Waracle.
Screenmedia, the Glasgow-based design and software engineering agency, has a successful background with user experience on web and mobile, working with bodies like BBC and NHS
Kenny Shaw said: “Waracle has an impressive track record across regulated industries and our team at Screenmedia have a broad cross-section of sector experience.
“I think our new, combined organisation will make us a formidable force in Scotland’s technology consultancy space.”
