Tartan Army pipers stop German locals in their tracks with performance at world’s biggest cathedral

THIS is the stunning moment that the Tartan Army captured the hearts of locals in Koln with a stunning musical performance on the steps of the famous cathedral.

Members of the Lonach branch stood proudly on the steps of the place of worship before capturing the attention of both tourists and locals earlier today.

Those who stopped included Scots sports journalist Mark Donaldson who listened intently as the six pipers played.

Video shows the men stood in front of a large Saltire with the word Lonach painted onto the top quarter of the national flag.

In the background, the impressive Koln Cathedral, the largest Cathedral in the world measuring 515 feet, can be seen dwarfing the members of the Tartan Army on the steps.

The 775-year-old place of worship was awash with Scotland supporters ahead of tomorrow’s game against Switzerland.

Fans stood alongside tourists who reached for their cameras to film the bagpipes being played once more at Euro 2024.

As the camera pans tourists can be seen enjoying the musical interlude as they go about their day in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Mark shared the clip to social media earlier today with the caption: “Tuesday morning entertainment on the steps of Cologne Cathedral.”

Social media users loved the impromptu performance from the pipers with Mark’s video receiving over 250 likes.

One proud Scot said: “Gaun the pipers.”
