“Prime location enjoys a variety of shops, bars and restaurants all within walking distance. Aberdeen University, Union Square Shopping Centre and Aberdeen beach are all within easy reach.”

The listing was shared to social media by keen eyed house hunters yesterday with the caption: “Anybody want to buy a flat for £10k?”

The post received dozens of comments from house-browsers who were curious to offer their thoughts on the property.

One user said: “I’ve been in that one. Not actually a bad flat and building isn’t the worst for being on the ‘rougher’ bit of George street. Be interested to see what it goes for.”

Another added: “Bugger me I’m glad I sold my flat when I did, and I only got half what I bought it for.”

A third replied: “I know what you mean, I used to live up at the top where it meets Powis Place and regularly used to walk home on a Friday/Saturday night at 3am. Never had any bother.”

Another joked: “That pipework alone must be worth 5k.”
