GLASGOW City Council has shared bizarre signs around their city reminding cyclists not to be cheeky and strip off during a cycle.
The Scots council has posted the sign in Scotland’s largest city advising any two-wheeled aficionados to keep themselves kitted out whilst on the roads.
The warning comes ahead of the annual World Naked Bike Ride, which takes place on the second Saturday of June – where cyclists are encouraged to strip off and pedal in their birthday suit.
The sign was spotted yesterday near the Forth and Clyde Canal which runs through parts of the city.
An image shared online shows a white sign which has been attached to a fence with cable ties holding key information for all cyclists.
More than 13,000 trips are made by bicycles daily in the Dear Green Place leaving some suspecting that, despite the sign, nudity might be on show in a few weeks.
The sign is embossed with the Glasgow City Council logo and seems to be supported by Cycling UK on the opposite side of the sign.
It reads: “No naked cycling, please stay clothed when riding.”
Smaller print at the bottom of the sign continues: “Glasgow City Council takes great pride in our city charter, and our values, one of which is: to be fairer and more equal giving everyone in Glasgow the chance to flourish and improve their life chances and choices.
“Work to uphold and protect people’s basic human rights including treating them with dignity, fairness, equality and respect.”
The sign was shared to social media with the caption: “Ok [Glasgow City Council] what’s the story behind this? Seen on the canal by Lock 54 if that helps.”
The post received over 130 likes with dozens of comments from Scots who were quick to give their views on the situation.
One said: “Well that sign has just ruined my Sunday plans, first they say you need to be seen sporting a helmet and then the switcheroo.”
Another added: “Stay clothed when riding? That’s not how I do it.”
A third replied: “I can’t imagine why anyone would want to cycle naked, bike seats are uncomfortable enough with clothes on.”
Another commented: “BMXXX.”
