Scots hotel’s successful May highlights importance of golf tourism

A SCOTS hotel highlights the importance of golf tourism to Scotland as it celebrates its most successful May.

The Red House Hotel in Coupar Angus has said that it has had its most successful May in terms of the number of golfing groups staying at the hotel.

The hotel offers touring golfers Golf & Stay packages that include a place to stay and an opportunity to play on the local courses in the area.

Blairgowrie Golf Club has the hotel’s most local courses and has recently started offering Saturday tee times to the golfing guests.

Sean Davidson, assistant managing secretary from Blairgowrie Golf Club, said: “We are delighted to offer Red House Hotel golfing guests the opportunity to golf on our two multiple rated courses on a Saturday.”

“The Red House Hotel is the ideal place at which to stay to enjoy golf in the area, their packages are great value for money and I can see how well golfers are looked after here.

“The Red House Hotel has put so much work and effort into building its golfing clientele over the years, putting Blairgowrie on the map.”

The successful May comes as the hotel won the best budget friendly golf hotel at the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards 2024.

The Golf & Stay packages start from £125 per person for bed & breakfast and one round of golf at Alyth Golf Club.

This rises to £372 per person for two nights DBB and three rounds of golf over Lansdowne, Rosemount and Ladybank.

Sarah Cooper, Red House Hotel assistant manager, said: “The positive and collaborative relationships we have with the golf clubs in our area has certainly helped us build our reputation.

“We’re still on a high from our success at the Scottish Golf Tourism Awards, it was fabulous to get another win in these awards in which we have traditionally performed well against stiff competition.

“Let’s hope for a very busy summer season where we all prosper and boost the local economy at the same time.”
